Expect the unexpected from The Trilogy Tapes. The London based label that spits on techno convention returns with a typically defiant debut from producer Waon-P (Koko Miyagi). This four-track EP has everything from breakbeat to ambient but the overwhelming tone of the EP is dark and industrial. The first track ‘dante2infelno’ is a broken techno track with shades of Ostgut Ton, this is the most typically ‘Trilogy Tapes’ track on the record, if there is such a thing. The second track ‘Give Thanks’ starts with ambient synths and pads that sound like lasers while the third track ‘Lisson’ is saturated with echoing claps and broken snares. Waon-P’s debut release is as abstract and avant-garde as the Will Bankhead designed artwork that accompanies it. Koko Miyagi has accompanied Anthony Naples, Beatrice Dillon, and Tzusing at nights across his hometown Tokyo. Some research also reveals a rare cassette released on NCA Tapes with Ko Saito, an alias of Miyagi. Other than this not much is known about Trilogy Tapes newcomer Miyagi, all that is certain is that this club ready release smacks and sets a high standard for future releases from Waon-P.
