Label: Rouge Mecanique

Genre: Left-field/Indie/Ambient

Rougue Mécanique is an alias and label of Romain Azzaro. Azzaro’s debut LP Don’t Touch My Sister sits in the hazy hinterland between acoustic and electronic music. Azzaro was raised in France and spent his time there playing in cold-wave bands but in 2010 he moved to Berlin in amongst the sprawling techno scene; it is this dichotomy that defines Don’t Touch My Sister’s sound. The intro to the record ‘Cheap As Coke’ with its telecaster slide-guitar and Roland JP 8080 sounds like a crossover between the soundtracks to Paris, Texas and Blade Runner. Azzaro’s music is deeply influenced by cinematic soundscapes and this record is in fact the result of a collaboration between Azzaro and French filmmaker Louis Vignat. ‘La femme du dimache’ is a distorted and disorientating EBM track that is situated steadfast at the Berlin side of the records sound spectrum. On the other side of the spectrum lies ‘Witches’ a cold-wave track cut with all sorts of experimental sounds and synths. Azzaro’s debut is a Frankenstein record assembled with bits of ambient, cold-wave, and techno; in theory it's an abomination but in reality it's alluring.
